Paula Saukko is a reader in social science and medicine at Loughborough University and draws from medical sociology and technology studies in her work. Paula currently works with Dr Emily Rousham, Dr Beryl Oppenheim and Dr Mike Cooper on a mixed methods study on diagnosis and antibiotic prescribing for urinary track infections (UTIs) in two UK hospitals. The qualitative interview study explored clinicians’ and older adult patients’ experiences and a case series review ascertained diagnostic and prescribing practices, funded by EPSRC.
