Danny de Vries is an associate professor in the Anthropology of Health at the University of Amsterdam and a senior research associate at the Amsterdam Institute for Global Health and Development (AIGHD). He has specialised in disaster response and preparedness, community engagement, and the relationship between health and the environment. He has been involved with antimicrobial resistance since the beginning of the EU Horizon 2020 funded SoNAR-Global project. SoNAR-Global is a global consortium led by social scientists who specialise in preparedness and response to infectious disease outbreaks and antimicrobial resistance. Danny has been leading the project’s AMR capacity building effort, which includes the global mapping of AMR trainings for social scientists, development of training curricula for social scientists wanting to learn more about AMR (special-soc) and more operational trainings for non-social scientists (e.g. community engagement).
