Katharina is a Postdoctoral Scholar in the Department of Anthropology at Case Western Reserve University. Centring on the structures of care surrounding infectious diseases in North American medical institutions, her research aims to elucidate the social dynamics and institutional cultures involved in the practices of infectious disease experts involved in tackling the problem of antimicrobial resistance. Her research draws on several traditions in medical anthropology, science and technology studies, and the cultural study of institutions. Prior to her postdoctoral research, Katharina received a PhD in Social Anthropology from Washington University in St Louis and a master’s degree in Social Science research from the University of Chicago.
